Jack Evans : I've always felt that with Dolly Parton's original song, the message is that there is still a possibility she could keep her man from Jolene. Jack White performs the song as if it's already too late and that chills me

Hana : No lies if Jack White started a cult I would definitely join.

Charlie SideShow : THE version! The desperation, the humiliation, the drama! He really makes this his song! Love it!

Holly Golightly : "I'm in the right place but wrong time? That's how I feel everyday" 👌👌👌

Joseph McDermott : I remember it was a theme in the 90s where if a man had to take a woman's song, he'd have to change the male-love subject to a female, and vice-versa. I'm glad Jack White just had the balls not to care if some 14 year old might think he's gay for singing true to the song.

Lika Tskitishvili : His voice goes to places no human voice should be able to go... I'm amazed

THE 1 : Dolly would be proud

rusheil francis : what a sad song. imagine having to talk to a Jolene, like, please dont walk in and wreck my life because i need to be with this man who, me knowing well and good, would rather be with you if he could. Fighting and desperately pleading to be second place in the life of the man you love and that being okay. So much levels of sad and beautiful. also. great remake.

Danni jensen : only version that can compete with dolly herself......sorry pentatonix

Devil Marie : I would kill to be able to see that live.

Jack is awesome : Jack whites skin is whiter than marrys little lamb

Charles Holland : he's singing this like he's going to an imminent, unwanted death. so much emotion and feeling

Diablo GAGA : The concerts looks like 1969 - 1970 footage, obviuosly this is from 2003

Marshall Banana : I bet Dolly feels incredibly flattered.

Shawn Gervais : There's a lot to be said for producing music with unpolished, raw emotion.

Weatherman Reeves : I have to give Jack all the credit because he chose to not change any of the lyrics. kept them just as Dolly Parton originally wrote. Amazing talent no doubt.

PAUL PETERSON : Dolly Parton's music stands up in any genre.................

Leon : am i the only one who wants to see a Jack White & Black duet??? lol

Laura S : No Doubt Jack White is amazing... but the White Stripes where the White Stripes because of Jack and Meg

BLEΣΣED ZINES : Dolly Parton – Jolene Lyrics Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene I'm begging of you please don't take my man Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene Please don't take him just because you can Your beauty is beyond compare With flaming locks of auburn hair With ivory skin and eyes of emerald green Your smile is like a breath of spring Your voice is soft like summer rain And I cannot compete with you, Jolene He talks about you in his sleep There's nothing I can do to keep From crying when he calls your name, Jolene And I can easily understand How you could easily take my man But you don't know what he means to me, Jolene Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene I'm begging of you please don't take my man Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene Please don't take him just because you can You could have your choice of men But I could never love again He's the only one for me, Jolene I had to have this talk with you My happiness depends on you And whatever you decide to do, Jolene Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene I'm begging of you please don't take my man Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene Please don't take him even though you can Jolene, Jolene

Machinee : I love how this version of the song perfectly describes how the woman who is talking must be feeling.

Kicker Kick : "Blackpool lights" Blackpool is a place in England and towards the end of the year they turn on a load of lights that run along a straight road that is right next to the sea front. They were a bigger deal back in the day.

Julia Aho : i listen to this practically every day

B Ob Bob : I can't believe I went this long in life not knowing this existed. This is nothing short of amazing.

autumn rain : my dad showed me this when i was 12 and he started crying and im 14 now and its taken me forever to find who was covering the song and it makes me wanna cry too, his voice is so beautiful

Sinead3rd : Jesus Christ every time this gives me the creeps. I just can't understand why people criticise this version so much: white stripes do a certain kind of music (which is not pop and it takes a specific taste to be able to appreciate it, as I see it), and Jack's voice suits it perfectly. They covered this song coming from a completely different genre and interpreted in their own chords. If you don't like Jack's style good for you, but just think about how much it takes to reach that emotion and sing through it like he does. I think just that is remarkable. That being said, if you don't like it just listen the original country version and chill!

Ten Craziest : one time my friend sat down at my drum set and said "I'm gonna play a white stripes song" and he began to just hit the bass drum slowly. Then he said "I'm gonna play a def leppard song" and he began playing with just one hand. It was great

Bethany Mazzeo : Exactly how the song should be sung

Bruce family fun : unbelievable power & emotion. what music use to be like. well done

Triggering Trolls : I remember when Dolly Parton hit the chart with this iconic song, and it has always had a special place in my heart. I clicked on this version ready to defend and fight anyone ready to challenge me. For that I apologize to the artist. It takes a special kind of talent, heart, and of course soul to pull this song off. This guy made me feel a new level of pain I didn't know about. I have been exposed to some of the most gut wrenching pain, and didn't think it possible to feel anything new. I'm glad I always watch a video before I open up my big comment. This guy made me bleed a whole new level of pain. So, listen before criticizing this artist. A big Thanks to the Beatles, Ozzy, Queen, Nirvana, Lemmy, and last but not least... all the 80's band's.! I didn't think music could ever be revived. Being overly synthesized crap. This guy pulled it off, and then some.

thewoodsystyle : My daughter is named Jolene and she head bangs to this version. She's 4. Rock on sweetheart

Tyrone Tucker : omg! Eric Draven is alive and well

Serenah Rat : Better then these Pentatonix & Miley Cyrus covers. Dolly Parton is queen though.

Jack Rockwell : The amount of emotion in this version of this song is almost too much to take.

Neshkan : For some reason YT wants me to go from this to Miley Cyrus. NEVER GONNA HAPPEN YT!!!!

NELSON X : This guy has taken a great old song that deservedly was a hit in it's day and turned it into a monster that gives me the goosebumps. Fantastic.

Alexander Tig Trager : I miss them :'(

Boisey : The only person who could make a plastic guitar sound so good

he wang : I almost cried after hearing this, so touchable!

Avlynn : The emotion he sings with and the way he moves is hypnotizing. I can't stop watching it especially after 2:35.

Elena Reed : I believe Jack when he's screaming his pain!  Looped this through for a half hour, getting more depressed each listen at the pure desperation conveyed through his pleading voice, esp with a slant of a man losing his male love irrevocably to a woman.  His world is shattered if Jolene decides to disregard him as a worthy person and fill her own immediate needs.  aargh.

Dylan Kaster : Dolly Parton's version was ok but what makes Jack Whites version better is he sang with full emotion like how people would really react if someone was cheating on them.

marcel bust : Jack White is a legend.A true artist.

Lewis Tyler : This cover is sick especially when the chorus kicks in.

satanic cyanide69 : This entire video has some really enigmatic badass eerie vibe.

M G : 1:59 was awesome!!

Kindergarten - : so the beatles used to see blackpool lights?

endor fiene : the only moment he acts like he's honest is when he says : im in the right place the wrong time? yeah that's what i feel everyday. so sad, i do feel the same though. this song means a lot to me
