Timothy McLean : The title is kind of ambiguous...

Alyssa : Some people in the comments are like “stay silent GET A LAWYER. Don’t say ANYTHING” and others say “if you don’t talk you look guilty. Bad idea.” Well??? Which one is it???

Huw - wuH : Pro Tip: If a cop starts interrogating you, just start interrogating the cop with all the techniques in this video.

Tim Peters : This is why a lot of innocent people get convicted.

Daniel Vos : Just pull a Mike Ermantraut: "Lawyer" "We don't need that we just want to talk" "Lawyer" "Do you really want to make a big deal out of this?" "Lawyer"

Coffee Break : To those of you who have asked if the insight in this video comes mostly from personal experience... I need my lawyer first.

Esben Rasmussen : This interrogation technique put an innoncent Danish kindergarden teacher in jail for quite a while in New York. He admitted to some made-up accusations by his mentally ill colleague because the cops claimed they had evidence and the entire situation stressed him out, so he admitted the made-up crime. He wasn't aware the cops could lie, as they aren't allowed to do that in Denmark.

Balthazzarr : Cops are trained to "win" the interrogation, not to get at the truth. They are trained to lie and deceive you through various means, whether it be their demeanor or other subtle characteristics of the environment in which you are being interrogated. And yes, it is legal for them to lie to you. They DON'T care if you are innocent. When it gets to the point in an investigation that someone, i.e. you in this case, is being interrogated, they just want to boost their numbers by getting people to confess, regardless of innocence. It's disgusting, but it's the way it is. The most important thing to remember above all else if you are ever interrogated. The cops are NOT your friends. They don't give a shit about you and will throw you in a hole the first chance they get if it means getting that conviction, regardless of your innocence.

Ryan F : The reason people have confessed to crimes they didn't even commit

FutureNow : Oh THAT "beat"

FragileDragon4 : I wish it really was **Slams Table** *T W E N T Y E I G H T S T A B W O U N D S* DIDN’T WANNA GIVE HIM A CHANCE HUH? HE WAS HURTING, AND CRYING OUT FOR HELP AND WHAT DID YOU DO?! YOU KILLED HIM. DID YOU FEEL EMOTIONS? ANGER? PAIN? REMORSE? I KNOW YOUR JUST A PHCKING DEVIANT, ADMIT IT

Trover19 : “Hello officer! How’s your day?” “GUILTY!”

Saitaina Malfoy : "Lawyer", the ONLY thing you say in this situation, repeat as necessary.

Nazi Party : Cop: we know you did it..we have evidence Me: no u (Disappears)

somerandomguy246 : This is not a bullet proof tip, but from personal experience I think it helps A LOT. Like mentioned cops will deploy all most if not all of these methods, but the second the cop walks into the room, close your eyes, deep breathes through your nose and exhale through your mouth. Yeah you got it, basically meditate. The majority of communication is nonverbal about 60% being body language. Closing your eyes effectively takes away 60% of the cop's psychological assault. Nose breathing in deep breathes in combination with closing your eyes will help calm yourself reducing the impact of the other 40% to maybe 20%. The rest is up to you; while you're meditating just keep repeating to yourself in your mind "I'm innocent". And if he says "look at me when I'm talking to you" or the like simply reply "I'd rather not" or the like. It's not like he can force you to look at his ugly mug. Keep in mind this is only if you refuse to remain silent and wish to engage in a psychological game of cat and mouse although you still can totally do this after you've invoked your rights. Good luck and have fun beating them at their own game 👍

Dark Gamer : That's why politicians give only one answer to everything- I wanna talk to my lawyer

Undisputed Guy with a lawnmower : This what i told a police officer once. "If you have all this evidence on me the. Why are you interrogating me?" I plead the 5th afterwards. Easy.

Sofia Lazarev : Next thing you know the government demonetizes the video

Alex Cotman : So basically the cops gaslight you.

MiYa : *The FBI* wants to know your location

Dwayne Johnson : Honest question: Why do people confess? I mean, even if you did it, why would you ever confess?

boiwutyousay watupdawg : Cops: we have evidence, so come out and tell the truth or you will have a harsher sentence. shan_rocks : Maybe in the U.S they beat suspects in interrogation rooms, but not in Canada. The U.S uses the Reid interrogation model in which they are harsh and convict you of the crime (whether you did it or not) and force a confession out of the suspect. After many years of research by Criminal Justice experts on police interrogation techniques, Canada and Britian, in a joint effort started using the PEACE model, which stands for Preparation and Planning, engaging and explaining, account, closure and evaluation. This model is very passive. Whether the suspect did the crime or not, the objective of this model is not to get a confession (the police could care less), the objective, is to disprove or approve of the suspects accounts of what happened based on the evidence from the crime scene(s). Since anyone in the interrogation room is "just a suspect" not convicted of anything, the PEACE model has seen better success. It has lessened false confessions and has aided the police, especially in high profile, complex cases to disern exactly how things happened, at what time, and why? Understanding the mens rea (mental intent) behind actions is far more valuable than getting in suspects faces and accusing them of crimes they may or may not have committed. Although, if their is insurmountable evidence connecting a suspect to the crime, like for example, DNA Evidence, CCTV footage, eye-witness accounts from many by-standers, the weapon tracing back to you, fingerprints, blood splatters etc: the police have the ability to withold evidence from you. Meaning they may ask "On October 15th (day of the crime), where were you at 9p.m". The suspect may lie and say "I was at home watching T.V" and then the interrogator will bring forth evidence showing for example, CCTV footage of you entering a convenience store and a recipt of your purchase at 9:07p.m, as the convenience store is just half a block from the crime scene etc. So Canada and Britian sort of use the best of both worlds, the PEACE and Reid method, which has seen greater success than sticking to just one.

Matyáš Filler : *FBI HAS REPORTED THE CHAT*

sosos gogogo : If anyone here is still on the ropes. PLEASE go look up "Don't talk to the Police" by Regent University school of law on Youtube. You will not regret it. You may find yourself in this situation one day innocent or not.

Kendrick L : Dam these are some smart ass cops

Exev : *_T W E N T Y E I G H T S T A B W O U N D S_*

Hi KllGm : ummmmm.... so if you're actually not guilty and they think guilty do they still know? WAIT! THEY ARE LYING TO US? Imma say that i got hard evidence that the cop was in my house doing crazy things without my knowledge

TNL ENDZ : 28 StAb WoUnDS!!! Now that's how you do it

꧁Skippy꧂ : *Why was this in my recommended*

Superkrem : Why would they interrogate you if they have evidence, cops lie, don't trust them :p

FutureNow : lol I think he meant GSR test (Gunshot Residue) not GRE.

Floris Apon : That would definably make me nervous

Marty Mcmarty : My dad used to work for the police and I did a brief stint in the academy before going back to college and I speak from experience when I say if you’re in the interrogation room they usually don’t have enough to prove you’re guilty You only get interrogated if they don’t have enough on you or need something else from you

PunOko : Better call Saul.

Scabash 7 : 1.4k police disliked this

FOX _ : I just looked down at the floor and closed my eyes ignoring what the officer said until it was over i did this so I wouldn't have to make eye contact which would make me nervous and then it could lead to ,e saying some dumb shit

Doram1ty : Ok this was a good video

Jay A : So if I am getting interrogated, I'm allowed to sit there, not say a word, and not even acknowledge the cop?

WuzNab : But like, what if you didn’t do it, but the conversation is so awkward you just said you did it so you can gtfo. Also cause you are craving a taco.

Nano Rivera : So basically the only people who would be good interrogators are people who are good at being dishonest and manipulative.

quite spicy : Cops: I know you killed this man, we have proof. Me: no u *pulls out reverse card from uno*

Broodjekaas ! : 4:59 what movie was that?

Captain Cookie : Because I'm black?
