Thomas Crown : Back when SNL cared about comedy and not politics.

Dominick Izzo : Would SNL even run a skit like this today?

None None : Dan Aykroyd. Delivery, profesionalism, and comedy.

Darin Osborne : Those four words made TV history, and all because of Dan's flawless delivery.

Ksjeff : I could not stop laughing. “Rapacious swamp sows” - totally original and totally hysterical.

Keith Purdue : This was a brilliant ongoing bit, never equalled.

Noah : Depression? Isn’t that just a fancy word for feeling bummed out?

Traversable Mgtow : 1979 comedy is today's reality .

BrokamaGay : I love Jane Curtin, she was wonderful on 3rd Rock

Tobi Makkura : Holy shit, savagry from the 70's still savage today

A C : I miss the good'ol days, when SNL was actually funny.

Curt Christensen : why can't real debates be this much fun ???

Rudy Juarez : I miss the days when people had a sense of humor.

D Gray : So SNL started out as a comedy show?

Stephen Palmer : man 70s women were sexy.

TheTooginator : Dear Triggered Anti-PC Nuts, The reason this wouldn’t be on SNL today is because back in the seventies debates were CIVIL - not people interrupting each other and slinging thinly-veiled insults. This was funny because it was unexpected. Today, this would be just a slight exaggeration of reality.

bluemonkey223 : Anytime Jane tries to make a point in life, she is hit with a recording of Dan Ackroyd. Lol.

Tflexxx02 : This was based on a segment on "60 Minutes" in the 1970s called, "Point-Counterpoint", with Shana Alexander and James Kilpatrick. With or without that reference, the sketch still holds up well more than 40 years later.

gutz1981 : "When you're on your back's, the meter is running!" Ha ha.

LWCReaper : Dan aykroyd needs come out of retirement

Rick Rose : Gotta watch all the way to the fade for the handshake at the end, 'cuz y'know, 'nothing personal'.

Ptguy0618 : How far SNL has fallen. Now it’s nothing but a bunch of SJWs virtue signaling.

texasaggie85 : Holy crap this is straight up savagery! Lol

INTERNETWORK : I always loved how, after his barrage of eviscerating insults, she smiles at the camera and says "That's the news..."

WestLAGuy : Nearing the end of an incredible decade., this bit defines the time so well. Pushing the edge, freedom to express opinions without fear of censure, respect for the individual thought and condemnation for those who would restrict, isolate and ultimately banish anyone who didn't do as they did and say it as they demanded it to be said.  Was it perfect? With gas rationing, hijackings, cult movements, Astro turf, jeans sent to the cleaners, and a president telling the City of New York to "drop dead", obviously not. But 1979 is light years removed from 2018 thanks to the Orwell-fulfilling madness currently being employed by the left and its intellectual "press gangs found at former Free Speech bastions of the '60's like Berkeley , the collective greed and incompetence of both political parties in Washington, and the anti-feminist/Stalin Show Trials inspired intolerance that so often renders "Off With His Head" verdicts based on the merest existence of an accusation at groups like # Me Too. Successfully linking 2018 to 1979 when this bit was performed live on SNL, underscoring the obvious conclusion that we as a country had a sense of humor then, is about as likely as Donald Trump resigning for the good of the country and Hillary Clinton returning the over $21.7 Million she got from Wall Street, Big Pharma and Big Oil for her private speeches she gave behind closed doors between her Sec of State gig and running for President.

Lisa Smith : This is why I don’t watch SNL now The 70s and early 80s so good Now so, So Bad.

Dazlidorne Jenkins : Hops from bed to bed with the frequency of a cheap ham radio!

Casey Todd : I miss when SNL was funny...

dbgameace : If this aired today people would be shitting themselves with outrage.

victor odom : "slunk meat"

Leland Unruh : I'm glad SNL posts these clips, but they do serve to illustrate just how terrible the show is today.

Dave Little : Who did you sleep with to get this job, anyway?

Ken Steiger : When SNL was actually funny

Number Runner : ....lmfao...."hop from bed to bed with the frequency of a cheap ham radio"....

F Jon : 😂 LMFAO... excellent counter points!

tony nelligan : dan your why snl was so great with others and they played off that for 30 years now. but at 47 years old i got to say that is one of the best skits you ever when your on your back the meter is running. so funny because we know it's true.

Thomas Boner : Almost 40 years later and this is still funny as hell!

eoselan7 : Sadly, this riotously funny, brilliantly acted parodistic sketch could never find it's way on the air today...forget that talent of this level no longer exists. The political thought police of today's rancid;y tyrannical left-wing media and academia would shut it down and attempt to destroy its creators/performers...In the name of "maknig us better people" don't you know...!

Ducksoup67 : Could you imagine the horror Generation Snowflake would experience watching this skit?

nightlightabcd : I had the privilege of watching these back when SNL was good! You know, before Jim Carry!

MICK FISHER : Who would've known all these years later Dan was right.

Doug Bamps : Those were the good old days, when SNL had actors, and they weren't bought off and politicking the LIBTARD narrative !!!

Doug Finlayson : SNL was funny a long time ago

madlarkin8 : This high-speed witty comedy is no longer possible with the SNL cast as they are only capable of foraging for the low-hanging fruit that matches their political agenda. IE trump.

Dale Cournoyer : Wow didn’t know snl skits used to be so short

Mkiel1963 0 : Back When SNL WAS SNL.

HardRockMiner : I watch it and I watch it and I watch it and everytime he says it I laugh... SNL was real back then.

Louis Ramos : THE CONEHEADS !MAINTAIN LOW TONES WITH ME !

jopageri1964 : 42 years later and she still is.

PelegoRecords : Dan Ackroid, MGTOW Legend!!! 😇
